Scientific Advisory Committees and Community Strategic Planning

Paul Scherrer Institute particle physics Scientific Advisory Committee, February 2024

I currently serve on the Scientific Advisory Committee for the Paul Scherrer Institute (Switzerland) and the Program Review and Advisory Committee for the Fundamental Neutron Physics Beamline at the Spallation Neutron Source.

I previously served on the DOE-NSF Nuclear Science Advisory Committee (NSAC), as well as serving three times on the NSAC Long Range Plan (LRP) writing committee (2002, 2007, 2015). In 2007, my leadership helped establish fundamental symmetries, neutrinos, and neutrinos (FSNN) as a top priority for the nuclear science long term program as part of the LRP process. Along with nuclear structure and astrophysics and “hot” and “cold” QCD, FSNN has become one of the four cornerstones of modern nuclear science in the USA.
