Scientific Leadership

I have actively engaged in scientific leadership and community service for the better part of my career. Highlights of present and past engagement include

  • establishing the Amherst Center for Fundamental Interactions
  • providing leadership in the U.S. nuclear science strategic planning process, leading to the promotion of fundamental symmetries and neutrino studies as a cornerstone of the field;
  • advocating for the full inclusion of LGBTQIA scientists in physics;
  • building new bridges of scientific collaboration and co-operation between the particle and nuclear physics communities in China and the West.
