Ministry

Celebrating the Eucharist with All Saints Highland Park, Los Angeles, at Castaic Lake, California

As outlined on the Biography page, my ministry has evolved in parallel with my scientific career, beginning during my first year as a Princeton Ph.D. student, my seminary eduction at the Episcopal Divinity School, and continuing to the present. I have served as a ministry intern, transitional deacon, and then priest in numerous communities. In January 2024 I celebrated the 30th anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood. Thanks be to God!

My passion as a priest has been engaging the church in Jesus’ work of social justice, empowerment, and reconciliation. I have pursued my ministry as an educated, white, gay man seeking to heal divisions based on race, class, ethnicity, primary language, and sexual identity that have far too often been barriers to the realization of God’s realm in our world.
